Atelier TT-CYTO

Organised by MIO, SYKE, CEFAS, LOG, SZN and HCMR, the EuroMarine workshop TT-CYTO aimed to build interoperable data sets for flow cytometry will be held at the LOG in Wimereux early June 2024. It will gather together users of in situ flow cytometers to make them classifying on the same way the phytoplankton groups from raw files. This is a mandatory step to build interoperability, data management best practices and push together initiatives for open datasets.
The CES-CYTOMETRIE ODATIS will participate as experts in the workshop.
Description: Marine high frequency in-situ flow cytometry allows the analysis of phytoplankton at the single cell level, providing huge data sets of abundances and optical properties related to pigment content and size proxy. The TT-CYTO workshop aims to enhance marine flow cytometry data accessibility and reliability, focusing on FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. It addresses discrepancies in manual gating and emphasizes establishing common guidelines, leveraging automated neural network processes, and promoting accessible databases. The initiative seeks to standardise practices and enhances the role of flow cytometry as a core variable in ecosystem monitoring. The TT-CYTO workshop is also an opportunity to tighten the actual in situ flow cytometry community even though most of us collaborate already together in national or international initiatives. However, the EuroMarine workshop is the unique occasion to be together for 3 days, to share our knowledge and train early career scientists to face new challenges such as using artificial intelligence methodology for analysing data on phytoplankton diversity and contribute to the development of more accurate ocean models.
Interested participants can apply by contacting Melilotus Thyssen before the 29 of February 2024.
Where: Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences (LOG) - Wimereux (northern France) with remote access of the workshop (partially).
